I wanted to see if I could paint butterflies in oil, and here's the result. I enjoyed doing it so much, I painted a second one. I'll pop it in my next post.

Cheetah Cub I, chalk pastel on board

The original painting was of a cheetah family, the mother and 3 cubs. It was OK. But as time went on, I began to hate the way I had painted the mother, and the composition stopped working for me; so I cut it up.

I now have two cheetah cub paintings that I am much happier with. This is the first.

 I love Cheetahs and have done several paintings of them. This is one of my favourites.

Just finished another painting - Stallion.

Rhino, Fading Into Black

Every time I finish a painting, I stand back and realise that I have to name my work. I always find it a struggle, but this time I got there with ease. I have spent weeks studying this rhino, and all I can think about is how close he is to extinction - fading away as time goes on, and into black shadows when there are none left.

Hunter

I have finished a new painting. It's chalk pastel on board, and considering it's my first one for 3 years, I think it's a good start.

He's called Hunter. Your opinion would be appreciated.
